Hi All, Personally, I've loved each and every one of my teachers, and dont' have a favorite yet. What I look for in a teacher is intelligence, kindness, humor, passion for their work, adn an ability to feel for and connect to their students. A teacher that goes above and beyond whenever possible is exceptional, in my book. Have you had a favorite teacher? If so, tell us about them, if you want. Lol. Caitlin
My favorites were eighth grade History, ninth-grade Bio, tenth-grade English, eleventh-grade Religion and Health, and my braille teacher who I've had since I was five. Those are the teachers I get along best with and have really good relationships with even though they're not my teachers anymore.
Yeah, I had one braille teacher from three to nine, then another from nine to now, and I'm really close with them and really adore them. Lol. And i've had a braille aid from age six to now, though I don't see her as much now that I'm getting older and don't need as much assistance. I see her in one class every day and around campus. She's really sweet, and it's funny thinking I've known her for eight years, and seen her every school day for the most part all those years. Whoa!

well I have had lots of amazing teachers through out my school career. The most amazing was my grade 11 and 12 history teacher. He is amazing! I never enjoyed history so much in my entire life, and he always has awesome stories to tell us. I've seen us just sit there, and tell stories for an entire class! I also enjoyed my biology teacher for 11th grade. He was so willing to help me out when ever I needed it. I also thought that my grade 8 social studies teacher was great to! She is dead now though, she died of cansor. R.I.P. In grade 11, I had an amazing math teacher to. I hated math for my entire life, and he made me understand it much better. My grade 11 english teacher was cool to. He sang to us lol! Grade 12 english was great as well because I felt like I understood what was going on in her class. I've had a lot of teachers help me out along the way, and for those I was greatful for!
Wow, the longest I've had one braille teacher was four years, then things got shakey because she was acting like mom and well... I liked my eighth grade spanish teacher; she was great, she spoke lightning-fast spanish and we all had to scramble to catch up, that was one of hte harder spanish classes... I also liked my nineth grade one, he came from Argentina (sp?) so that was neat, he was pretty cool.

Well the very first teacher I had was my favorite, and I wasn't in any grade then. We lived somewhere else then, and this one teacher came, and the school told her there was nothing they could do, that she had other students that could be helped, so forget about me. I think they thought I was retarded and couldn't learn. She didn't do what they told her to do, but came and taught me on her lunch hour. Then we moved here, and when they tested me, they found I was qualified for the third grade, so really, I skipped first and second grades. She was very jolly, and the only teacher I felt who could combine being a teacher, and being a friend. The last one I had for 5 years, and she was ok, just strict, and a little hard driving at times, and I liked her much better after I graduated, and she wasn't my teacher anymore, lol.
wonderwoman
I've had a lot of wonderful teachers, but the ones that particularly stand out are my seventh grade english teacher, my eighth and ninth grade Spanish teacher, and my junior year french teacher. All of them past on to me the passion for their subjects. Also, my mobility instructor who i had right up through senior year was great.
Ah, good stories here! Heh. Keep 'em coming!

I have a wonderful teacher, her name is Mrs. Arnold, she teaches science at Missouri School for the blind. She teaches earth science, life science, physical science, Biology 1 and 2 and FLHS family living and human sexuality. She is also my adviser, like she makes sure I am in the right classes and have good grades. She also gets on to me if I act up in class which is good. She has made a real diference in my life teaching me much more then science. She loves her students and her job and shows it. She has after school study halls and serves awesome food. She is really good at her subject and algebra and geometry as well. She has helped me through many tough spots this year and I am very greatful to her.
Hmm, favorite teachers? My mobility instructor and braille aid in Maryland were phenomenal women whom I greatly respect and adore. I am greatly saddened that i've not been able to keep in touch with them, although I hope to find them...somehow.
Now, let's skip to Georgia and high school. I had a wonderful teacher who taught the sciences, health, and home ec. She was a feisty woman with quite the attitude. But I could talk to her about absolutely everything.
the teacher that stands out the most in my mind was my eighth grade teacher. Not only did she teach me, but she was also an advisor. My first memory of her was getting detention in her class. Five demerits equaled a half hour of detention, and my friends dubbed me the detention queen. But it was through her that I discovered my passion in writing. From her, I learned what it meant to apply myself. She taught me to appreciate the beauty of the English language, and to appreciate myself. And she taught me the true meaning of inner strength.
During the time that I spent with her, she was fighting breast cancer. She had lost her oldest son to suicide a few years before all of that. She was not married and was still taking care of another child. Through all of her challenges, she stood strong and resilient. She still loved and taught her class with enthusiasm up until the time that she passed away.
She was a wonderful influence on my life, and if there were ever a person that I aspired to be like, it would be her. To stand in the face of adversity and be able to walk with dignity and pride is a great accomplishment, although she would never admit such a thing.

well, I wrote to this board a couple of years ago, I sadly had to leave m s b but still keep in close contact with ms. arnold. she is stil as wonderful as ever.
Mine was Mrs. Korker. She was a my third grade teacher. She was hard but taught very well and meant well. She was also a good story teller. Sadly she died a few years ago do to cancer I think it was.

I've had a lot of awesome teachers, but the one that stands out for me is named Mrs. Spencer. I had her for Language Arts in my freshman year of high school, and AP English in my senior year. She was always kind, but managed to keep a class full of high school students in line. She was enthusiastic about the things she taught. You could tell she taught because she liked it, not just because it was her job. She was energetic, and had this really positive attitude. She had a good balance of complimenting students on what we did well, and showing us how we could improve. I still keep in touch with her via email sometimes.
One of my favourite teachers was Mr Leibshner my Maths teacher from high school. I know that is a German name but he was English. He used to play with hair and do things like that. From primary school my teacher was sister Jane. That school was run by nuns. She never shouted just raised her voice a little.
My instructor for critical thinking class this semester that just ended really made me laugh. He'd walk back and forth in front of the students, explaining some of the material we were studying and he'd become so engrossed in what he was saying that it was easy to see he had forgotten all about us. He talked on and on until somebody asked a question and brought him back to the present moment. lol But he sure did make it fun and easy for us to learn about fallacies and methods of analysis. He'd always stop himself from cursing, pointing at my recorder and pretending that he'd get fired for saying such words. Yup, he was a cool bastard.
I have two very good teachers. the fast one was my TVI. I had her from k threw eight grade. She and I started seeing her for a half hour until right gradeIwould see her for 2 hours a day. and one hour at home for home stuff like making a bed. and the other teacher is my history teacher he makes it fun. and he the use storys on the subject are studing ar the time.
My favourite teacher was my French teacher. He brought us cake or croissants every week, but that's not the best thing about him. He was so funny and there was always something to laugh about in every lesson, but oyu also learned very much.
When someone said something wrong, he either fel ldown on the floor, or acted as if he was looking for something on the floor. And when we asked him what he was looking for, he said "My innocense". He has many other funny things about him. And to go on a trip with him was the best thing that could happen to us. It was never boring.
Another favourite teacher was my art teacher. He used to bring his guitar and sing to us.
I thought I would update this a bit, Ms. Arnold is still as wonderful as ever, we have had our ups and downs, but no matter what she still sticks by me even when I have done something stupid, another funny thing about her was she had a squirt gun and would squirt us when we tried to go to sleep in class. another funny teacher was Mr. Doyel at Missouri school for the blind, he was the my history teacher he was so funny he would say stuff like "girl, come in sit down don't touch nothin, and shut up" or if you asked to go to the bathroom he would say "if you feel its necessary" or if you said something wrong he would say "girl you should be shameful" now he was white, but talked black which is what made most of it funny. one day the sprinkler head broke and maintance was paged to turn it off or something and a friend called to ask him a question during lunch and he runs the school store so he said "Ms. B's store and noah's arc" he is so funny I can't tell you all the stuff he said he would go "girl shut the hell up" he never once stopped himself from saying anything in front of us and didn't care if we cussed in his class either. anyway those are my favorits.
My sixth grade teacher and my eighth grade Ohio History were my favorites at the school for the blind where I attended kindergarten through the eighth grade.
In high school the teachers that stand out in my mind were my ninth grade World History teacher, all my English teachers, and my gym teacher. It was either my freshmen or sophomore year that I took swimming for nine weeks. The other girls in that gym class signed up for swimming to get an easy A, but I signed up because I really wanted to learn to be a better swimmer. I had always had a little bit of fear of the water and wanted to get over it. This gym teacher spent a lot of time with me while the "easy A" students practiced diving off the boards and other more complicated things. She taught me all the basic strokes and kept an eye on me as I practiced. I am a good swimmer today and not afraid of the water because of her.
Let's see... favorite teachers of mine include Meggy, one of my first special ed teachers. No matter how much anyone doubted my abilities and considered me a retard and all, Meggy knew how smart I was. She'd try and spell things around me when talking to my family and see if I'd get that they were compliments and such and I did! I loved my first mobility teacher Mrs. Knott too! She always had the right mix of the essential stuff that I needed to learn for O&M but also made things fun. We had to do maps and learn cardinal directions and boring things like that, but along the neighborhood walk, all our landmarks were so fun! There were these rocks that someone had in their driveway that looked like dinosaur eggs and echoed off a nearby retaining wall when we tapped our canes on them. There was a metal diamond plate style grate that we'd slide our cane tips on or stamp our feet on that we called the stamping grate, there was the echo grate which was one of those rain drain things next to curbs. We learned what a guy wire was for a telephone pole and tapped our canes on that. It was a blast. I remember doing my first solo grocery shopping when I was only eight years old! Mrs. Grant was my drama teacher and the after school drama program she taught ruled! She made sure students from every grade from kindergarten through sixth were included in all her plays. Most times she made sure I got a solo in after a performance of "Send in the Clowns" in a clown play that blew the whole audience away and drove them to not only a standing ovation but stomping and clapping and cheering my name for like 10 minutes! I was mentioned in the local paper during our Alice in Wonderland play when they talked about how Mrs. Grant cast a chubby girl in the normally skinny role of Alice or a blind girl as the caterpillar, me, heehee! Mrs. Emery was a sweet teacher in my mainstream fifth grade class, but man was she strict when she needed to be! She could yell so loud she'd get every student's attention! In Junior High, the awesome teachers were my English and history teacher Mr. Greif, my choir director Mrs. Trapani, my adaptive P.E. teacher Larry, another English teacher Mrs. Pinto, Mrs. Bigham was cool for eighth grade history. Oh, Mrs. Krauter and her medieval history unit ruled in seventh grade! At my first high school, Lori the adaptive P.E. teacher and Mrs. Farley the resource room teacher were the only awesome teachers I could credit. At the second high school, pretty much anyone except for Dale and Jordan were awesome. Rose, Jim, and Joe were my favorites. As far as college, Karen in Human Development was great, Ken Hardin's voice class was fun, Mr. Keeble was fun to pick on during Group Communications. My Earth Science teacher was cool, I forget his name. Irene Bergh my job training teacher was sweet. Every other teacher I had sucked, LOL! Oh shit, forgot Ann Hinschelwood my V.I. aide in seventh and eighth grade! Sorry Ann, heehee!
As a student, I loved my Senior Projects teacher. She is very accepting of everyone. At the beginning of this year, as she does every year, my BF told me she came in the room and told everyone, "I don't if you're black, white, purple, or orange. I love you all." Words can't really describe her. You almost have to know her personally.
